About Renee
You may be here because something feels heavier than it should, anxiety won’t quiet down, a low mood lingers, or relationships keep hitting the same walls. Whatever brought you here, things can genuinely get better.
I’m Renee Rodriguez, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years experience helping people navigate anxiety, depression, relationships, grief, life transitions, and questions of identity and self worth. I provide online therapy for adults throughout New York and Florida.
My approach is rooted in psychoanalytically informed Self Psychology - which is a depth-oriented framework centered on empathy, deep listening, and the belief that being truly understood is itself healing. Together we’ll explore not just what’s happening on the surface, but the patterns beneath that shape how you feel and relate to others.
I began my career in 1992 and have maintained a private practice since 2008 - first in New York City, now exclusively online. Outside of sessions you’ll find me in the Hudson Valley tending my gardens, hiking local trails and caring for my horse and cats.

What you may be wondering
How does online therapy work?
Sessions take place using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform (Doxy.me/ReneeRodriguez). All you need is a private space and reliable internet connection. Many clients find the flexibility of virtual sessions easier to fit into their lives.
How do I get started?
I offer a brief 15-20 minute consultation so we can get a sense of whether we’d be a good fit before scheduling our first full session. We can do this either through a phone call or set up a video appointment.
How often would we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, which provides the consistency needed to build a strong therapeutic foundation and make meaningful progress. As therapy continues, we may adjust the frequency to best support your needs and goals.
What’s your approach to therapy?
My work is rooted in psychoanalytically informed Self Psychology - a depth oriented approach that emphasizes empathy and self-understanding. Alongside exploring underlying patterns and experiences, we also identify practical coping skills and develop clear goals to support meaningful change in daily life.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I accept Anthem (BC/BS) and Optum (United Healthcare) insurances. Depending on your plan, you will pay me a copay and I will submit your claims directly to your insurance company.
I also accept out-of-network insurance! Common insurances I have worked with are Cigna, Aetna, and Carelon. I am happy to consider any other out-of-network insurance.
Ready to take the first step?
